Bringing freedom and joy to acting

Charis Acting

Discover creative choices and freedom to experiment in the process

“Charis” is Greek which means “that which affords joy, pleasure, delight, sweetness, charm, loveliness.” It also means “the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude.”

It is our mission to bring freedom back to acting. Freedom to “fail”, freedom to explore creative choices, freedom to find joy in what you do. Acting is doing, being. It shouldn’t be burdensome, but should bring connection and expression that enlightens and fulfills.

“When I first started working with Carissa, I was unsure but curious about acting. She is so encouraging and gave me the freedom to explore different feelings and emotion in each role without fear of being wrong or messing up. I’ve now started to pursue creative opportunities for profit and Carissa is a huge part of me finding that confidence!”

– Jessica Allgoewer, actor and singer

Hi, I’m Carissa Dalton

I am a professional actor, writer, director, teacher and coach. As an actor, I have over twenty years of commercial, television, film and stage experience. I have appeared in projects for Volkswagen, Teleflora, Amtrak, Mitsubishi, Sony TV, National Geographic and more.

As a writer, actor, and director, I co-wrote, starred-in and directed the feature film, All The Dragons. I have also directed thirty short films. As a teacher and coach, I have had the privlege of working with actors and directors, helping them elevate their skills through the CFTN Film Lab—a collaborative class of actors, writers, and directors working to create film organically—of which I am the co-founder and co-director.

I am also a well-trained vocalist and dancer, as well as an experienced improv theater performer.

“This was an awesome experience, that provided strong foundational knowledge in acting. Carissa has a special talent in helping you to unlock and express your creativity. I would highly recommend to anyone and will continue to take other classes offered.”
